08/20/05 - Broken Now Available on DVD
Source:  The Enigma Factory

Back in May, The Invisible Man Online was approached by Director/Producer/Editor Alex Ferrari (Co-Producer/Editor of Paul's film Push) who wrote in about his new short 15-minute film Broken.  This short film contains over 100 visual effects and cost only $8,000 to make, practically nothing by Hollywood's standards.  After receiving and viewing this short film, a review was written and posted here on IMO.

Now, Alex lets us know that Broken is available to the public on DVD.  This DVD contains not only the short film, but also almost three hours of special features that include:

s How to Make DV Look Like Film
s Color Correction Lab
s How to Get Pro Looking Guns
s Evolution of an Action Sequence
s Visual Effect Breakdowns
s Anatomy of a Stunt
s Special EFX Makeup Breakdowns
s Marketing a Short Film

...and lots more.

Great stuff for the amateur or aspiring filmmaker and any movie buff who wants to learn about the more technical aspects of filmmaking.

The DVD is available for $19.99 and payment can be made using PayPal.  Shipping of the DVD is estimated to begin around August 21-25, 2005 and they will be shipping worldwide.

08/20/05 - It's a Boy!
Sources:  IMDb, Tidings Online, Box Office Prophets

Congratulations go to Shannon Kenny and her husband Nestor Carbonell who have recently become proud parents of a baby boy!  Australian-born Shannon met her Cuban-American husband in 1995 on the set of the short-lived television series Muscle.  The couple married in January 2001.  Marco is the couple's second son.  Their firstborn son, Nestor Rafael, is three years old.

"Currently a stay-at-home mother to their two boys...Kenny has had a recurring role as a neighborhood mom on 7th Heaven."  Of course, I-Man fans know her best for her beloved role as The Keeper on The Invisible Man.

Nestor has been playing the recurring role of wealthy entrepreneur Jonas Ray on Lifetime's Strong Medicine.  His next known appearance on the show is in the August 21, 2005 episode entitled "Gunshot Wedding."  This episode airs at 9:00 p.m. ET on Lifetime Television.

Nestor also has a role in the upcoming film The Lost City, starring Andy Garcia, Bill Murray, and Dustin Hoffman.  The Lost City is currently in post-production and is scheduled to be released in December 2005.

Sources:  I-Maniacs Fan Club, IMDb, ReelChicago.com, Netflix, Backstage.com, NY Daily News

Eddie has a new movie!  Angst is the story of "a young theater actor, who has no respect for the elderly, [and] is forced to make himself look old to get a part in a Broadway-bound play. His lack of respect drives his girlfriend away, and when research for the play requires him to spend a week at a nursing home, he has to review his life choices."  Angst is currently in post production.  No release date is available as of this announcement date.

Fighting Tommy Riley is now available for rent on Netflix.  Here's a great opportunity for Netflix subscribers to see what Eddie describes as "the best work I have done on a film."
__________

Eddie also stars in the west coast premiere of Beggars in the House of Plenty next month at the Victory Theatre Center in Los Angeles.

"Fast-paced, furious, and unrelenting, this highly stylized play explores the myths and reality of an Irish-American family at war with itself.  The New York Times writes, 'A theatrical event not likely to recur anytime soon...In a breathless 90 minutes, 40 topsy-turvy years of family flood across the stage.'"

Eddie's wife, Anita, is directing this play.  Show dates and ticket information will be announced when they become available.

08/08/05 - Update on Mike
Sources:  Mike McCafferty, I-Maniacs Fan Club, IMDb

From Mike comes the news that he has a guest role in an episode of The West Wing.  Mike says, "The role is like Eberts working for the DNC and wearing glasses.  I worked with Bradley Whitford and Janeane Garofalo. It was a lot of fun and hopefully it might come back."  Mike's role is Consultant #2.  The episode is entitled "The Mommy Problem" and is scheduled to air Sunday, October 2, 2005, at 8:00 p.m. PT on NBC.  Mike also talks briefly about the role with Perseus Project.

Mike also recently made a Ditech commercial as well as a Clorox commercial.  Keep your eyes peeled for them!  Speaking of commercials, take a listen to Mike's commercial voice sample (RealOne Player required).

In addition, Mike's movie (formerly called 3001 and then the Untitled Mike Judge Comedy) has been renamed Idiocracy.  The film is currently in post production and its release has been pushed back to October 2005.

08/01/05 - Mike McCafferty & Jason Makiaris Make Entertainment Weekly!
Source:  Jason Makiaris

Back in May, The Invisible Man Online reported about The Jogger, an amusing short film starring Mike McCafferty.  Now Jason Makiaris lets us know that this short was one of two featured in Entertainment Weekly!

Hi everybody,

Jason here.  I don't how many of you are aware of Channel 101 ( www.channel101.com ), which is a website devoted to home-brewed 5-minute sitcoms, but Mike and I have been frequent contributors for the past several months and we've batted about .500 so far with about one out of every two pilots that we produced getting into the screenings in Hollywood.  We've been unable to crack the top five and have a continuing series there yet, but Entertainment Weekly came to do a story on Channel 101, and "The Jogger" (which was written by Mike and directed by me) inadvertently became one of two shows that they singled out from Ch. 101 (the other one even starred Jack Black) as being outstanding.  So if you happen to see this week's EW (with Harry Potter on the cover) on the newsstand, turn to page 43 for a great shot of Mike in action as The Jogger.

Here's what EW said:

"The Jogger: A single-shot wonder that inexplicably didn't make it past pilot, The Jogger tells of a hero who solves crimes, saves lives, and finds love...without interrupting his jog.  Jogger and camera keep moving throughout the episode- no cuts.  Neither 101 nor 102 viewers voted to give it a shot.  Recount!"

If you'd like to check out "The Jogger", click the link below.  Please be warned that it does contain a couple of small moments of mature language, so make sure the impressionable younglings aren't watching.

Check out some of the other shows at Channel 101 while you are at it.  There's some really funny stuff.  Next month we're going to unveil our latest endeavor for Channel 101 which should be a blast.  I don't want to give it away, but expect a lot of singing on our part.  :)  I hope you are all well, and be assured that we're thinking about you...albeit briefly.

Warmest Regards,

Jason

They say time flies when you're having fun, but it also flies when you're keeping busy.  And working on The Invisible Man Online has been both fun and hard work.  This site started with the idea that the Invisible Man fandom needed a site that was updated regularly and that kept up with the latest goings on of the cast, the show, and the worldwide fandom.  Happily, that goal continues to be met.  But is that all there is to this site?  No, not by long shot!  Check out some of these other features:

  • Cast & Crew—This section is still in need of a lot of work, but, hopefully, you'll find the future content useful and informative.
  • Save I-Man—With talk of a movie being in development, who knows what the future holds for our show?  This section, which admittedly still needs a lot of work, may be taking a different path if the movie happens.  We'll just have to see what happens!  In the meantime, do check out the Inspirational Quotes.
  • Event Calendar—This calendar continues to be a popular stop for fans to check out when and where the cast is appearing.  Have an itch to see Vince in a movie?  Wondering when Paul's next appearance is scheduled?  Check the calendar!
